Turning plastic waste into a resource for good.

Join the movement to spark circular economies around the world - turning ocean-bound plastic into life-changing infrastructure.

About BETI.

Bogyo Environmental Technology Institute (BETI) is a registered Canadian not-for-profit company committed to transforming plastic waste into sustainable economic opportunities - particularly in remote, developing, and Indigenous communities around the world.

Grounded in a legacy of over 90 years of humanitarian service and driven by the materials science innovations of Dr. Grant Bogyo and Ron Ryde, BETI bridges research and real-world impact by turning advanced science into practical, locally owned solutions.

Our Mission and Vision

At BETI, our mission is to eliminate plastic pollution, create accessible infrastructure, and create dignified livelihoods through circular, community-driven innovation.

We believe that environmental solutions must be equitable, accessible, and grounded in local ownership. Our work is guided by values of scientific integrity, social justice, and practical impact - insuring that every project we support not only addresses climate and waste, but also empowers the people most affected by them.

Our Projects

Transforming plastic waste into sustainable opportunities for a healthier planet and thriving circular economies.

Infrastructure Accessibility

Through our Infrastructure Accessibility initiative, BETI advances open research into low-carbon, fibre-reinforced composites. We focus on making durable infrastructure more accessible by studying plant fibre plastination, reducing microplastic leakage, and eliminating the need for cement in remote or resource-limited settings.

Industry-in-a-box Sponsorship

Our Sponsor a Machine program empowers partners to fund the deployment of containerized micro-plants that transform plastic waste into building materials. Each unit creates local jobs, diverts plastic from oceans, and produces carbon-negative concrete additives—enabling communities to build from their own waste.
